Painting atmosphere, light and movement

M‍y work is inspired by landscapes and changing environments, particularly the sea, skies and coastlines that surround us. I work intuitively, building layers of acrylic and oil with brushes and a variety of tools to create texture, movement and atmosphere. Some paintings remain recognisable landscapes, while others move towards abstraction.

I'm interested in the feeling a landscape can create - the changing light before a storm, the energy of the sea, or the quiet of a distant horizon.
